Fire pumps serve as critical and essential components of many water-based fire protection systems such as sprinkler, standpipe, foam water, water spray, and water mist for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. Where determined to be necessary through hydraulic analysis or other purposes, a fire pump installation provides for the required water flow and pressure for the fire protection system. Without a properly designed and installed fire pump, the fire protection system cannot be expected to meet its objectives. The Fire Pumps automatically start once pressure is reduced on the water supply side of pipe line to its set pressure. Fire pumps are set and arranged to start in sequential on the individual set pressure setting to meet required flow and pressure of individual system under operation. A jockey pump is connected to the system and is intended to maintain pressure in fire protection piping to system pressure level and to meet small leakages in the pipe lines and is set at pressure below the starting level of main pump. All pumps start automatically due to loss of pressure in fire-fighting main and will be in operation till it will be stopped manually except the jockey pump which stops automatically once required pressure is maintained in fire-fighting main.
