Acamprosate doesn't prevent people's withdrawal effects from drinking alcohol.

Therapeutic use : In chronic alcohol therapy is based on disulfiram (antabuse) and other medicine too like naltrexone and acamprosate. it has painful consequences when you drink even limited concentrations of alcohol. these symptoms include face flushing, fever, nausea, fatigue, pulse, exhaustion, blurred vision, mental disorder, sweating, chokes, trouble breathing and anxiety. these symptoms start around 10 minutes after the introduction of alcohol and last 1 hour or longer. disulfiram is not an alcohol treatment, it does not promote consumption.
