AKASHTri-Lobe Rotary Compressors/Blowers are positive displacement units, whose pumping capacity is determined by size, operating speed and pressureconditions. It employs two Tri-Lobe impellers mounted on parallel shafts, rotating inopposite direction within a casing closed at the ends by side plates. As the impellersrotate, air is drawn into one side of the casing and forced out of the opposite sideagainst the existing pressures. The differential pressure developed, therefore, dependsupon the resistance of the connected system. The Blowers, being positivedisplacement type, do not develop pressure within the casing but the dischargepressure depends upon the system resistance/back pressure. Effective sealing of thecompressor inlet area from the discharge area is accomplished by use of very smalloperational clearance, eliminating the need of any internal lubrication of the lobes. Apair of accurately machined alloy steel, hardened and ground timing gears maintainclearances between the impellers, during rotation. The air, thus delivered, is 100% OILFREE.
Water-Cooled Air Blowers are similar to air-cooled type blowers in construction and performance-except for the addition of a cooling arrangement.
In water-cooled blowers, the main casing and side plates have water jackets around them. Through which water is circulated, which dissipates the heat generated and keeps the internals cool. Water-cooled blowers are recommended for applications where discharge pressures exceed 10-psi (or 7000-mm WG).
In applications where the differential pressure is in excess of 10-psig, it is both essential and recommended to dissipate the heat for efficient working and longevity of the blower bearings and seals. These blowers have a unique design of single inlet and single outlet for cooling water and no cumbersome water pipe connections externally. Internal circulation of water to various areas is achieved through in-built channels. This unique design makes the operations very simple, yet very effective. The cooling water inlet is at the bottom so that the water rises up against gravity, reaching all the corners before it comes out from the outlet. The flow rate of cooling water required are low.

Side channel blowers consist of a ring-shaped housing. Side channel and the rotor opposite create a working area between intake and blow-out connections. The blade segments of the rotor suck the air and create radial pressure during turning. The centrifugal force causes the air to be pressed to the outside in the side channel. This creates a circular current between channel and blade segments. Due to the radial pressure, the air to be compressed in the chamber begins turning. The spiral swirling compresses the air several times and causes the pressure to rise. At the end of the chamber the compressed air is then pushed pulsation-free by the rotor through the blow-out connection.
