They are also called as Centrifugal separators. These filters are very simple and efficient for filtering or separating sand particles or silt from irrigation water. The spiral motion of the water when it enters the Hydrocyclone creates a contrifugal force, which pulls down thc heavy particles. The bottom tank of tho conical filter will collect the separated particles. Hydrocyclone are available in capacities of 10, 20, 3A oncl 50 m3h. The pressure drop required by cyclones for separation of sand particles and silt are very low.
