Penetrometer Apparatus
As per IP 49, 50 & 167 specifications and also per IS 1448 [P : 92 and P : 93]. This apparatus is used for penetration test on a wide variety of materials such as greases, petroleum, bitumen, tar, wax, polish, food stuff, rubber asphalts and pharmaceutical creams. A given force is applied over a given period of time and the depression is made in the sample which is measured in tenth of a millimeter and expressed as penetration. It consists of a head support mounted on a vertical rod which can be adjusted for height. A rack and pointer assembly provided fine adjustment of needle tip to sample and incorporates a slipping clutch mechanism which makes reading of penetration and subsequent resetting a sample an accurate operation. The dial is graduated from 0- 400 in one tenth millimeter sub-division. Instrument is supplied with two sample containers.
It has an electronic timer unit on which there are four 4 mm sockets two for gates and another two for solenoid and a toggle switch for release and catch the ball The other unit consists for heavy retort stand The said retort stand carries two base boards out of them one is solenoid holding base of size 149 x 97 x 113 mm providing with two banana sockets of 4 mm when the toggle switch is on catch position the current is flowing in solenoid and it produces magnetic field and a steel ball make a attraction towards it another base connected to retort stand is of steel base on which the ball is dropped having base of size 115 x 60 x 2 mm As well as switch is positioned on release their breaking the contact between solenoid and ball is dropped on steel plate and there is some time displayed on the timer .Supplied with steel ball of 12 mm& 18 mm diameter .

Abels Flash Point Apparatus is ideal for use for determining the close cup flash point of petroleum and mixtures. It is also used for oil whose flash temperature is below 70 C. Drop Point Grease Apparatus
(As per IP 31, IP 132 andASTMD 566 specifications) As per IP 31 the apparatus consists of brass sleeve and case, metal cup, a glass boiling tube, cock fitted to a bath and a 600 ml. Beaker. The assembly is kept on a heater with energy regulator control, stand and a F. H.P. electric stirrer. As per IP 132 the unit comprises of a glass beaker with fibre cover, glass test tube with three indentations, chromium plated brass cup, cork for tube and a 1.5 mm. diameter brass rod. The assembly is kept on a heater with energy regulator, stand and a F. H.P. electric stirrer as per IP 31.
