Surgical Blades Aurolab’s surgical Knives division was started in the year 2005 with a mandate to manufacture and supply surgical knives with good quality consistently and at prices affordable to developing countries. To this effect, Aurolab’s blade division introduced “Aurosharp” range of flat stock surgical knives to the Aravind Eye hospital first and then gradually to other markets. It manufactured wide range of knives needed for cataract and retinal surgery. Though the manufacturing process is labour intensive, some proprietary coatings on the knives provide smooth incision, enhancing the surgeons experience and meeting their high expectations. It achieved the stringent product quality CE mark certification for this range in the year 2010.
Aurolab opened its Suture Needle Division in 1998 to reduce the cost of the cataract surgery. Established with technical knowledge from Europe, our state-of-the-art facility manufactures high quality suture needles used in Ophthalmic Surgery. Aurolab Suture Needle Division is certified by UL as ISO 9001:2008. Ptosis sling, Suture needles in Nylon and Silk are certified by USFDA and Nylon, Silk, Polyester and Polypropylene are CE certified. The World Health Organization (WHO) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification was awarded to the division, confirming that all suture needles are made in compliance with international standards To bring down the cost of cardiovascular surgery, the Suture Needle Division has recently introduced polypropylene range of suture needles.

Equipments After 13 years of existence as an ophthalmic surgical consumable manufacturer, Aurolab started its Equipment Division in the year 2005. It entered this entirely new area as it was driven by the need to design, develop and make available a green laser Photocoagulator required for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy at an affordable price. This product was launched in January 2009 addressing the need initially set to achieve. Since then few more products have been taken up for development and recently a Digital Vision Chart was launched by the Division.
Tension Rings A CTR is a 270 degree open PMMA ring placed in the capsular bag during cataract surgery in cases with zonular instability or weakness Aurolab manufactures 3 types of CTR, Product Features: All types made from Clinical Quality UV absorbing PMMA, they are Capsular tension rings (standard type) For cases involving less than 4 clock hours (4 positions) of zonular dialysis, a standard CTR is suitable Cionni rings with single and double loop For cases involving greater than 4 clock hours or progressive zonular damage Capsular tension segment Partial ring used in cases that cannot be supported by CTR
