As you descend from the pass, Mani Walls and Stupas emerge in the isolated scenery of the Himalayas. Legend has it that the area was once under a big lake, hence the moon-like landscape on the eastern part of the village. The Yogi Naropas pilgrimage led to the building of the monastery on the mountain precipice in 11th century. It is an easy trek starting at Lamayuru. However it gets harder along the trail. You will follow an old pilgrimage route. The trek will see you cross high mountain passes and deep valleys. On arriving at Alchi, you will notice the distinctively beautiful Tibetan-Kashmiri art which recounts of an era long gone. The painters and sculptors from Kashmir brought with them a highly sophisticated form of art, which was deeply rooted in the classic Sanskrit texts of India. The masters from Kashmir would have also trained local artists and there was a marvelous blending of the local idioms with the developed styles coming from Kashmir, says the historian, Binoy K Behl.

To the East of Ladakh lay Rubsho range of mountains, colourful barren plateaus overlooking green valleys, home to the nomads of the Changthang plateau. The gleaming glaciers on the mountain peaks form several small trickles of stream as the sun-rays bring it to life. The group will muster near the designated spot in north Delhi near ISBT Kashmiri Gate for the overnight bus ride to Manali. On arrival in Manali in the morning our team will receive and transfer the guests to hotel. The group will rest for 3 to 4 hours at the hotel. Explore Manali in the afternoon. Visit Haldimba temple, Maal road and walk through the forest to Old Manali to explore laid back cafes and eateries. In the evening the guests will get to see their bikes and take a first ride to Vashisht for a holi dip in the Kund and pray for the journey ahead.
