During the thrive for different manufacturing methods of sesame oil, In 1923 V.Periyana Chettiar then aged about 25 used bullock driven wooden rotary to manufacture Gingelly oil and sold the same in a tiny hamlet called Poosaripalayam some 30Kms from Erode., He was ably supported by his elder son P.Palaniappa Chettiar in marketing and developing the Gingelly oil in and around the villages using just bicycle as means of transport. His vision and mission was “Every Family must be provided a Quality Gingelly oil” which is followed by his lineage even after close to a century. In the late 1940s they also ventured into agro based trading business by supplying agro based products like Green gram, sesame seeds etc., all over India. In the early 1950s P.Palaniappa Chettiar and his brother P.Kumarasamy Chettiar laid the foundation for the establishment of the firm T.M.V.PERIYANA CHETTIAR with an oil brand titled as “SRI BHUVANAESWARI GINGELLY OIL” . During the year 1959 the firm and the brand were formally registered. The first oil manufacturing unit of TMVP was started at Ellakadai,Tamilnadu. The success and growth of the business paved the way for building a larger unit at Kodumudi in the year 1963 using modern mechanized rotary machines to manufacture Gingelly Oil. Due to the superior quality of our product, the demand for the product increased and to cater the needs, a third unit on rental basis was started at Erode from 1965. As the saying goes “The only thing that never changes is change” We have grown along with time and adopted modern packing methods i.e. in Pouches using hands free automated packing machineries. We were the frontrunners in introducing “AGMARK” certified Gingelly oil pouches. SRI BHUVANAESWARI GINGELLY OIL is accepted as one of the family product in millions of home across Tamilnadu. Following the tradition of V.Periyana Chettiar we would like to carry forward the quality and extend his mission to reach and promote Gingelly oil in kitchens all over the world.
