It contains phenylephrine hydrochloride 2.5 mg; menthol 2.5 mg; dextomethorphan 5 mg; zinc gluconate 7.5 mg; and cetirizine 2.5 mg per 5 ml. Children Cough Syrup is available in 60 ml market pack. The mechanism of zinc in Children Cough Syrup involves constraining rhinoviral interaction with the intercellular adhesion molecules, the particular site where virus originally binds to the epithelial cells. It is observed that zinc may inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators and histamine from mast cell granules.
