Welcome to Dada enterprises
Before we brief you about the introduction of the Indigo Dye extracting plant in a small Village called Vengandur in Villupuram District, I would like to give you a brief history of my Grandfather Janab Mohideen Basha Sabih. It is strongly believed that our ancestors were from an Arab clan who settled in the kingdom of Mysore. There were called Ahle Navayat or Nawaith. Our Great Grandfather was serving in the Darbar of Shaheed Tipu Sultan (R.A) ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore. After the unfortunate death of Tipu Sultan in 1799, his family escaped to different parts of the region and some came to settle in Vellore. From there some moved to Meenambur, a small village in Gingee taluk, Villupuram district. My Grandfather was 24 years old when he decided to move to Vengandur another small Village in the early 1800s. In that time, Indigo cultivation was famous and was in high demand worldwide. He bought lands and started the cultivation of Indigofera Tinctoria, a plant for making Natural Indigo dye, and was the first to introduce the feet-on processing plant (called Doddi) with a compartment for different process of Indigo between 1830 – 1835 at Vengandur. He also built a well, as a source of water for the purpose of cultivations of Indigo plants along with the other plant. He also employed a new method with two plastic tubs suspended to a railing which are pulled by bullocks to draw water from the well. Grandfather had 7 sons and 2 daughters, after his demise, his youngest Son Dada Miyan Sahib i.e our father took over the business as he was very much interested in agriculture and the Indigo dye-making business.
