Monitoring the pH of your nutrient solution is vital to getting your plants to grow at their peak performance as the pH determines how effectively nutrients are absorbed by plant roots. So what is pH? Simply put, it's the measure of how acidic or alkaline (basic) a solution is on a scale of 0 to 14. The solution is acidic if it has a pH of between 0 and 6.99, and the lower the number, the more acidic the solution. A pH of 7 is neutral, i.e neither acidic nor alkaline, whereas a solution with a pH from 7.01 to 14 is alkaline, and the higher the value, the more alkaline the solution. Most plants growing in hydroponic systems absorb nutrients most effectively at a pH of between 5.8 and 6.5. So clearly we need a pH measuring device to regularly check
