Application
Certain manufacturing and some environmentally sensitive applications, require that hydraulic oils contain no metals. These oils are still required to meet the stringent testing limits imposed on zinc based formulations such as those containing HiTEC® 521 additive. However, the absence of zinc or calcium requires the use of specialized ashless chemistry such as HiTEC® 543.
Treat Rate
Ashless hydraulic oils meeting the performance requirements of Denison HF-0 and other hydraulic specifications are met using 0.87%wt (around 0.78% volume) HiTEC® 543.
Base Oils
Group I, Group II, Group III, re-refined, synthetic (PAO, ESTER).
In addition, biodegradable vegetable oils may be used, though in these types of base oil, there may be limitations on application temperatures, contamination and change intervals.
Viscosity Grades
ISO 15 through ISO 1000 or higher.
Other Additives which may also be needed
Depending on viscometric requirements, a pour-point depressant may be employed in finished oil formulations.
Other applications where oils containing HiTEC® 543 may also be employed.
Circulating systems, turbines, compressors etc. In addition, HiTEC® 543 may be used to formulate multigrade hydraulic oils for use in the mobile sector where pressures tend to be higher and temperature variations greater than often seen in industrial facilities. A suitable viscosity index improver must be used in order to formulate such fluids. Contact your Afton representative for a specific recommendation.
