The origin ofCyamopsis tetragonolobais unknown, since it has never been found in the wild.[1]It is assumed to have developed from the African speciesCyamopsis senegalensis. It was further domesticated inIndiaandPakistan, where it has been cultivated for many centuries.[2]Guar grows well in semiarid areas, but frequent rainfall is necessary.
