Silicone Gel Sheet for Effective Scar Management :

  • The skin can be damaged in multitude of ways that can be a burden to the patient particularly when it develops into red and raised hypertrophic and keloid scarring. Restriction of movement as well as itching can cause great discomfort and emotional distress. Unacceptable scarring can be induced by a variety of factors including burns, accidental trauma and chronic wounds.
  • A scar is part of the normal process of healing. The type of scar that forms can depend on a variety of factors including the nature of the injury, the part of the body, size and depth of the wound. Scars mostly consist of a protein called collagen, which is the most common tissue in the body.
  • Keloid scarring is the result of build up of collagen in the area, making the scar larger than the actual size of the wound whereas hypertrophic scarring is without the excess collagen build up so that the scar is confined to the original wound area.
  • The Silicone Gel Sheet is derived from high quality polysiloxane material. It is believed that it promotes
  • hydration of the scar area and the concept has been medically proven to improve the appearance by softening, flattening and fading red and raised scars. Some injuries will leave a flat white scar that will normally fade away in time and Lysil is not recommended for these type of scars.
