The temperature of a fire raging through a building can easily exceed 1100 degrees C. Traditional un-insulated steel roller shutters can deploy and create "fire compartmentalization, " but at these high temperatures, they turn red hot and emit intense radiated heat on the other side.

 

This can lead to combustible materials igniting on the opposite side and severely injuring individuals attempting to escape. This underscores the need for an insulated fire shutter, preventing the temperature of the shutter on the non-fire side from exceeding hazardous levels. This ensures the safe passage of individuals in front of the shutter during an escape and prevents the ignition of combustible materials.
