the deccani breed of sheep is widely distributed in the deccan plateau across the three states of maharashtra, andhra pradesh and karnataka. The deccani sheep are highly suited for zero grazing systems where male lambs / kids at the age of 4-5 months (after weaning) are selected and they are fed in zero grazing system for 6 months and are sold at the age of 9 -12 months for meat purposes. This helps in achieving quick and frequent income throughout the year . The deccani sheep has great potential for mutton production under intensive system of management.
kenguri/bellary is a sheep breed of karnataka. The home stall-feeding and as small flock rearing in southern tract of the breed is bellary, koppal and raichur district of karnataka. Population of kenguri breeds is in southern northern karnataka. In its home tract, the breed isndistricts of karnataka is increasing and was around non-migratory. The body colour of the animal is dark brown color or coconut colour. In most of the cases the animal has white colour on its forehead and sometimes on the legs and other parts of the body. Some animals are known to have black belly. Ears are medium long and droopy. Tail is short and thin.

Country chicken or Nati Koli is the term used to refer to the many indigenous breeds and/or mixed breed and mongrel chickens which have been raised in the villages of India for centuries . They have a slower growth cycle than the broilers but are birds which have their natural instincts of foraging, escape from predators etc etc intact. They are also resistant to diseases.
Lamb is sheep that is less than a year old. It is typically slaughtered when it is between four and 12 months old. The color of the meat ranges from pale pink to pale red and is generally lean. Its mild flavor also makes it versatile. lamb chops make an easy weeknight dinner, and a leg of lamb is a welcome change from the usual pork shoulder.
Mutton is sheep that is older than one; it is usually harvested at about three years old. The meat has a deep red color and is much fattier than lamb. The leg and shoulder are most commonly prepared, but the meat is tough, so it's often stewed to help tenderize it. Its flavor is strong and gamey.
