Engineered Hose for Steel Mill ApplicationThe operating equipment in steel mills must be rugged and sturdy to withstand exposure to heat, metal debris, and coolant chemicals. One of the critical machines in a steel mill application is the pinch roller, which moves molten steel material between milling devices. Because such transport is critical in keeping the work moving, and requires heavy duty machinery to do what couldnt be done safely by hand, an efficient mill needs reliable supplies to keep pinch rollers in service.Major steel producer, was experiencing high failure rates with hydraulic hoses supplying a water-glycol solution to the pinch roll machinery. Because rubber is a flexible product often in use for fluid transfer, it was one choice for the steel mill application, but it couldnt hold up to the heat, both in the mills environment and particularly in proximity to the continuous casting process that the pinch roller was feeding. The next material the steel producer tried was a metal hose, but in addition to heat fatigue, corrosion was a problem. The temperature cycles during the systems operation 2. The system is exposed to a wide variety of ambient temperature 3. The temperature of the system when installed (or not in operation) is different from that of the temperature during operation. If the above metioned thermal movements (expansion and contraction with increasing and decreasing temperature) are not considered in the system design, they may cause high stress, and possibly result in failure of the piping or connected equipment. To compensate the thermal movements, expansion devices such as expansion joints, metal bellows, ball joints, packed expansion joints, and flexible metal hose are used in the duct or pipelines. Construction: The single wire braid hose is made of oil resistant synthetic rubber lining, single wire braid and oil, fuel and abrasion resistant.
When the single wire braid hose cannot provide a measure of safety then a second layer of wire braiding is added. And there are two reasons to consider for this: the extra wire provides for higher working pressure, and the interior braid is still protected if the hose cover has been damaged and the exterior braid may rust and fail. This is an important consideration where hoses are subject to external damage and then left out in the weather (for example the farm machinery). Double wire braid hydraulic hose is widely used in the daily life and industry because of its features of moderate price, large scope of applications and providing of a measure of safety.This product can bear very high temperature, pressure and vacuum. All possibilities of burst have been reduced to a great extent because of the fabrication of the second wire braid.
