Heat transfer can be minimized by specifically engineered methods and by using specially designed materials that dont allow heat to get pass them. Heat flow is an inevitable process when two objects of different temperatures are placed near each other or are in a range of radiative influence. By thermal insulation, you can create a region of insulation where the thermal radiation is reflected and thermal conduction is reduced rather than being absorbed by the other less heated object.
