Axi-weld Exothermic welding is simple, cost efficient, self containedprocess of forming high quality connections. This process requires noexternal power or heat source making it completely portable. It uses hightemperature reaction of powdered copper oxide and aluminium, within amould, to form permanent connections.In this process connections are made by pouring superheated moltencopper alloy on and around the conductors to be joined.The reaction takesplace very rapidly, therefore the total amount of heat applied to theconductors or surfaces is considerably less than that of brazing orsoldering. This is important to remember when welding to insulated cable orthin wall pipe.The process use aluminium particles as reducing agent with copper oxide toproduce the chemical composition. Exothermic welding is a bonding of highconductivity high copper content alloy and high corrosion resistance.
