It is used for manufacture of refractory bricks largely used in steel industry. It is also a valuable basic refractory for use in electric furnaces, rotary cement kilns or for purpose which requires a basic lining capable of withstanding a high temperature.
The most important use is the manufacture of Oxychloride or Sorel Cement.
It is used in the manufacture of Epsom Salt (MgSO⁴).
