Pipe Wrapping Tape is a hot applied bituminous tape for protection against corrosion, for water / gas / oil pipelines. Our Pipe Wrapping Tape is available in two variants namely PipeWrap-CT and PipeWrap-BT. Pipe Wrapping Tape is specially formulated corrosion resistant bitumen compound, which provides high softening point, high penetration and high resistance to ageing. Pipe Wrapping Tape comprises of high tensile strength thermo-fusible HMHDPE film on both the sides. We make available both the variants of tapes in different thicknesses, lengths and widths, at affordable prices. Description :

PipeWrap : BT is a hot applied bituminous tape for corrosion protection conforming to IS: 10221, Appendix B. Specially formulated corrosion resistant bitumen compound provides high softening point, high penetration and high resistance to ageing. PipeWrap BT comprises of high tensile strength thermo-fusible HMHDPE film on both the sides.
2 mm PipeWrap : BT is five layer without fiber glass inner core, whereas, 3 / 4 mm thick
PipeWrap : BT is seven layer tape with two inner cores; top core is of tough 45 gsm fiber glass and the bottom core is of 15 micron high tensile strength HMHDPE.

Application :

Coating material for drinking water pipelines, fire fighting pipelines, raw water pipelines in thermal plants etc.
Applied on buried and immersed pipes, fittings and appurtenances to protect them from high corrosive environment

Coverage : The application of Prima Bit varies according to the
porosity of the surface :
Metal Surfaces : 6 - 12m2 per litre
Concrete : 6 - 8m2 per litre
Lightweight concrete screeds and asbestos cement : 3.5 - 5m2 per litre

Application Procedure : Apply by brush or spray. Surfaces should be clean, ie. free from all oil, grease, dirt, dust and loose debris. On metal surfaces all loose rust should be removed using a wire bristled brush and where advanced signs of corrosion are evident these areas should initially be treated with a rust inhibitor such as red lead. Surfaces should preferably be dry although Prima Bit will adhere to damp but not wet surfaces.PRIMA BIT should be applied evenly across the surface in one generous coating. PRIMA BIT is resistant to rainfall within 20-30 minutes of its application. Packing : Its is packed in 20 ltrs drum packing.

Strong Points and Performance Characteristics :

Compression to 50% thickness in the initial state : Recovery is 80/84%
Weathering and compression to 50% thickness : Recovery is 70/76%. Kani Board returns to more than 70% of its original thickness after three applications of pressure sufficient to reduce its thickness by 50%
Extrusion : No effect (0.75 mm)
Uaffected by temperature changes
Low moisture absorption due to bitumen impregnation. Standard Bitumen content 10-20-35%. Other possibilities upon request.
Suggested application details for typical joints : Ordinary type. Joint Filler is brought flush with the surface and extends full depth of slab. This is the most common type of application.
Joint using surface capping. Kani Board Concrete Joint Filler is placed approximately 3/4 of an inch below the surface of the slab. Suitable capping placed flush with concrete surface. Used extensively in highway construction.
Dowel bar used to preserve alignment of adjacent sections of concrete slab. The joint filler is fabricated to receive dowel bars and the entire joint assembly is placed in position before pouring concrete.
Joint employing continuous seal either at top or bottom of slab to close joint against hydrostatic pressure.

Application Methology :

Heat gradually till the bitumen melts completely. Heat the required quantity only.
Continuously stir to prevent local overheating. A thermometer should be used to ensure that the bitumen is not overheated or it will lose much of its properties
Bitumen brought up to its normal working temperature is applied with a brush or by pouring and spreading using a rubber squeegee.
