1. Weekly

  • Once a week perform a manual back flush, make sure that the differential pressure isbelow 0.25 bar (4 psi), after the back flush.

2. Monthly

  • Close valves at the inlet and outlet of filters.
  • Release pressure within the filter and open the top filling port.
  • Inspect media level and its cleanliness. If media is missing add to required level.
  • If the media is not effective anymore (long usage, or tough caking), perform chlorination treatment (see clause 3 bellow) or according to the following instructions.

REPLACING THE FILTERS MEDIA

  • Replace the gravel when the amount of dirt (that cannot be back flushed), prevents proper functioning of the filter.
  • Close all the valves.
  • Open the filter drain plug, to release the pressure and to drain all the filters water.
  • Open the top filling port.
  • Open with care the side service ports.
  • Empty the gravel from the filter, through the side service ports.
  • Rinse the interior thoroughly with clean water.
  • Inspect the double bottom of the filter including the partition and the mushrooms diffusers.
  • Check the protective coating for damage and repair if necessary.
  • Close the side service ports with covers and tighten properly.
  • Fill the filter through the top filling port with the right amount of gravel and shut the top filling port and tighten the cover properly.
  • Check the Flow Limit Valve, or readjust the Throttle Valve (F) Back flush the filter with the new gravel to wash out dirt and dust, for at least two minutes.

General Notes :

  • For efficient filtration the media should be crushed with sharp edges, .
  • Flow recommendation according to dirt load (for crushed granite and crushed basalt) :
  • 1. 75 m3/h/m2 (30 gpm/ft2) for average water condition.
  • 2. 50 m3/h/m2 (20 gpm/ft2) for dirty water.
