An open container/cap is fitted on the head and lukewarm herbal oil is poured into it. Duration – 15 to 60 minutes as prescribed by the doctor.

Dhanyamlam – is an infusion (decoction) prepared with some cereals (dhanyam) and fruits like citrus fruits. Dhara is a process of streaming warm medicated oil or a special herbal decoction (Njavara rice, horse gram, millet, sliced citrus fruits, dried ginger etc.) over the body. Indication – Reduces pain and inflammation. Effective for improving blood circulation. Good for Rejuvenation.

A circular container made out of black gram dough is fixed on or behind the knee joint as prescribed by the doctor. Then, Lukewarm medicated oil is poured into it. Throughout the procedure, the oil in the container is kept warm. Indication – Advised for Arthritis, Knee pain, stiffness, Degenerative changes (Osteoarthritis), Tendon tear, Injury in the knee joint etc.

Shashtika Pinda Swedam or Njavara Kizhi is done using a specific type of rice known for its medicinal and nourishment value. The rice is prepared cooking in milk along with a special herbal decoction. Then the whole body is fomented with linen boluses (Kizhis) filled with medicated rice. Indication – Recommended for Paralysis, low Backpain, Neck pain and Arthritis. The treatment reduces pain and inflammation. It’s also very effective for rejuvenation.
