This system works by delivering high peak energy pulses through light of specific wavelengths in a very short duration (nanosecond = 10-9 seconds). Pigment in the tattoo absorbs these pulses that cause an acoustic shockwave, shattering the pigment particles whereas the surrounding skin tissues remain unaffected in the process . This light is absorbed by the tattoo inks selectively. The pigments are released from their encapsulation and broken into fragments that are so small that they can be easily removed by our body slowly over the next few weeks.
