b mojari/juttiesb is a generic name of handcrafted ethnic footwear produced in india. These are made by artisans mostly using vegetable tanned leather.
the soft uppers of cow, camel, goat, or buffalo leather are made of one piece of leather or textile embroidered and embellished with brass nails, cowriesb shells, mirrors, bells and ceramic beads.
even the bonding from the upper to the sole is done by cotton thread that is not only eco-friendly but enmeshes the leather fibers with great strength.
these juttis were embroidered with golden/silver zari thread and decorated with gems, beads, bells and pearls. These come in a plethora of colours and designs, each one crafted by hand, and limited only by the designer's imagination.
