Introduction

Float operated liquid level transmitter, indicator and controller, comprises of a level transducer and a signal converter and is used for continuous level indication and control of any liquid, chemically compatible with the transducer material, unaffected by electrical conductivity, temperature, pressure or viscosity. The Floats are designed for variety of liquids and its unique self-cleaning construction is well suited for even sticky or dirty environments, reliability and accuracy-this is an ideal transmitter. Operating PrincipleThe Unit operates on the principle of buoyancy. During the rise and fall of liquid level, the Float moves and the magnetic field change and actuate the chain which develops a proportional voltage. The sensed voltage is fed to a transmitter for converting it to a signal of 0-5 V Dc or 4 � 20 mA. The transmitter can also be incorporated with a digital display or step less adjustable multiple alarm relays (featuring high level alarm, low level alarm, or both & low level pump (or solenoid valve) on & high level off and vice-versa. ConstructionThe transducer consists of a float and guide tube assembly in nonmagnetic material to achieve undisturbed flux. The float can be in nylon, PP or SS. No gasket or seals are used and there is only one moving part, the float assuring long trouble free life. Being entirely glandless, there is no possibility of fluid leakage into the transducer. Installation and Wiring : The transducer is mounted internally and externally through a chamber by means of a flange connection. External mounting is adopted to overcome limited space within the tank or where mechanical devices operate or where isolation tank is required for regular servicing. The Transducer is recalibrated in the factory and comes to you ready for installations. For operation of level transducer, it has to work in conjunction, with a signal converter which have line or loop powered electronics. Line powered transmitter can be incorporated with a digital display and / or adjustable multiple alarm relays. Loop powered transmitter is employed for remote signaling to a process indicator / controller.

Construction & OperationCompact and rugged construction, consisting of a free moving float assembly and a switch enclosure in non-magnetic material to achieve undisturbed magnetic flux. It employs dual magnets- one carried out by the float arm and the other by the contacts carriers, housed in the switch enclosure. A change in the liquid level brings the like poles of the dual magnets opposite to each other, and resulting repulsion force ensures a change-over of contacts, of the switch housing. These Magnetic Level Switches come in various non-magnetic materials and construction styles to suit board range of medias/applications. Installation

  • Mounted internally or external through a chamber. External mounting is resorted to, where space is a limiting factor or mechanical devices like stirrers operate within the tank. Besides, in applications like boilers, reaction kettles etc., with external mounting, isolation are possible for regular servicing
  • The switch is normally side-mounted; however for applications like slurry, vertical-installation is preferred

Precautions

Trouble Shooting

 

 

  • Magnetic Level switch, Float and cam not moving up and down
    • Check the S.S. Float
    • If puncture, replace the same with a new one
    • Check the sediments on the cam
    • If present, clean the same
  • Low level alarm not working
    • Check the alarm unit (hooter) and its electrical wiring
    • If shows open, replace the switch with a new one


Maintenance

 

 

  • Periodic maintenance is required in the form of cleaning of float and cam
  • Check magnetic strength of primary magnet
  • Ensuring that the wiring is in good order and that all screws are tight
  • Check that the float is not waterlogged
  • Check insulation of wires connecting switch head
