Stall Torque Motors

  • Squirrel Cage Stall Torque motors             2 NM to 10 NM (0.2 Kg-M to 1 Kg-M) , 12 Pole design with fail safe Electromagnetic brake.
  • Slip Ring Type Stall torque motors 5 NM to 28 NM (0.5 Kg-M to 2.8 Kg-M), 4 Pole design with fail safe Electro Magnetic Brake

Speed of Stall Torque Motor drops as it is loaded and reaches to zero as seen from the graph. After reaching zero speed, if the shaft of Torque Motor is rotated by force in opposite direction of normal rotation then the Torque Motor tries to resist it. (Please see graph below X-axis, which shows T/ N curves at different voltages) This means that when an energized Torque Motor is driven by an extended source against normal rotation it exerts an almost constant lacking torque on this extended source.

Application

  • One main application of these Stall Torque motors is Cable reeling drums (Motorised Cable Reeling)
  • The typical property of Stall Torque Motor is used in unwinding application of cable reeling drums. Motorised Cable Reeling Drums (C.R.D.) are used to supply electrical power to moving equipment like Stackers, Reclaimers, Trippers etc. in Steel Plants, Cement Plants, Power Stations, Ports/Docks etc.
  • Cable Reeling Drums are driven by Stall Torque Motors through Gear-Boxes of required ratios. Cable Reeling Drums rotate in both directions depending upon application ( i.e. whether cable is paid-off or is reeled in). We are supplying motors for cable reeling drums (Motorised Cable Reeling) as per Mark standard and also direct replacement for Demag / AKH / other Chinese manufacturers.

Mark Elektriks manufactures Torque Motors since 1971 for various applications. Mark Elektriks has been supplying stall Torque motor for cablereeling drums (Motorised Cable Reeling) since 1984-85 in Squirrel Cage type design and since 1995 in Slip Ring Type design.

Torque Motor For Winding

Torque motor is basically an induction motor; but with drooping curves. Torque motor specifies Stall (Lock) torque and no load speed on the name plate. A standard squirrel cage motor tries to maintain the speed as it is loaded while a Torque motor will drop in speed as it is loaded. MARK ELEKTRIKS developed Torque motor as import substitutes in 1971 and has since then supplied over 50000 Torque motors for winding for various other applications.

Construction

Available in IEC frame sizes as well as modified mechanical frames for special applications. 'MARK ELEKTRIKS' can also supply one to one replacement to imported motors. Geared Torque Motors with planetory gearboxes are also available. For ganged application such as HDPE Tapes/ Monofilament Yarns etc. one common variac can control all the Torque Motors. This is possible because we manufacture Torque Motors (Motors for winding) for such applications within a close tolerance with similar T/ N Curves.
