MPIL aluminothermically reduced niobium is a starting material for production of pure niobium metal ingots and niobium based alloys.
MPIL high purity MgF2 powder is suitable for optics applications. MgF2 is extremely transparent over a broad range of wavelengths – from VUV to IR, its uniqueness being its ability to transmit over VUV (Vacuum Ultraviolet Range). Lenses, prisms and windows made from MgF2 are physically very tough. Thin layers of MgF2 are also used to coat surfaces of optical elements as an anti-reflective coating.
This material is used as an additive in the manufacture of high-speed steel, tool steel, super alloys used in blades and other wear resistant components of land air turbines, defence equipment etc.
