CHESTNUT EXTRACT, pyrogallol type tannin.

In comparison with Querbracho and mimosa, it will be seen that CHESTNUT has much lower pH, and this natural acidity imparts to CHESTNUT its characteristics of giving a high tannin fixation and firmness to leather tanned with it, lower water solubles and a higher resistance to water penetration.

Differing from the catechol tannins, CHESTNUT is very stable to the effects of light, as it does not appreciably oxidize in air, and for this reason in addition to the acidic properties already mentioned, is a suitable constituent of heavy leather tannage blends.

USAGE :-
  • CHESTNUT EXTRACT is mainly used in mixture with Querbracho and Mimosa tannins forthe Manufacture of sole, saddlery and equipment leathers.
  • Tannage of sole leather- Tannage of special leather(Saddlery and Morocco).
  • Rectangle of side leather and light skins.
  • Improvement of light resistence- Tannage of welting shoulders.
STORAGE :-

CHESTNUT EXTRACT maintains its characteristics unchanged if properly stored in dry premises protected from sunlight in closed bags.
