Arthroscopy (also called Arthroscopic Surgery) is a surgical procedure in which an examination and treatment of damage of the interior of a joint is performed by use of Arthroscope. Arthroscope is very small video camera like instrument (in tube shape) that contains optical fibers and lenses. It is inserted (through very small incisions ) in the skin area where the joint is to be examined. Surgeons views the Internal Joint area on the Computer Monitor, and can diagnose to repair torn joint tissue and bones by small surgical instruments. It is done by an Orthopedic Surgeon expertise in doing Arthroscopic Surgeries. Arthroscopy is reported to be a common orthopaedic procedure that is used to diagnose and treat problems in joints. The word arthroscopy comes from two Greek words: artho meaning joint, and scope meaning look. Arthroscopy is undertaken using keyhole surgery, where a thin scope is pushed into the joint (arthro-joint) to visualise the structures.
