Unlimited service life Solid state relays contain no moving parts or any mechanical contact. They can switch loads of up to 125 A several times a second, year after year. The standard parameter for the maximum number of cycles used for electro-mechanical relays is not relevant for solid state relays. High switching frequency A solid state relay can switch loads up to 80 times a second. This frequency is much higher than that for an electro-mechanical relay. The response time for an asynchronous solid state relay is just 100 s. This process is completely bounce-free and totally reliable. Silent operation Solid state relays are completely silent. Although this characteristic is not necessarily relevant for certain industrial applications, it is much sought after in other areas such as medical equipment, construction, office automation and for applications where individual comfort and a noise-free environment are required. Compatibility with harsh environments The solid state nature of these components makes them highly resistant to vibration and shock. They are hermetically sealed to ensure excellent performance in contaminated or humid atmospheres. The absence of mechanical contacts increases safety in environments where arcing and sparks are a hazard.
