Embelica officinalis is a rich source of vitamin C.
It is used as diuretic, laxative, cardiac, astringent and lever tonic.
It is useful in anaemia, diarrhoea , dysentery, dysoeosua, inflammation of the eyes, dyspepsia, haemorrhage, irritability of bladder, jaundice, discharge of the blood from the uterus.
Effects blackening of hair and it is Chief ingredient of Chayavanprash.
Botanical name is Hedychium spicatum. The common name is Kapoor Kachri Oil. In Japan it is called Sanna Oil. This plant is duly distributed in Western Himalayan at an altitude of about 3500-7500 Feet from sea level.
The rhizome and oil is Stomachic, carminative, stimulant and tonic .Employed in the preparation of Abir, a fragrant coloured powder used during Holi festival and religious ceremonies in India. They may be employed as auxiliary in dyeing to impart a pleasant smell to fabrics. Vasicine is found to be highest during flowering and low during vegetative growth and it is recommended to collect the plant during March for maximum medicinal value.
Its used in Herbal Medicines as an expectorant, antispasmodic and other chest affections, in the treatment of tuberculosis, haemorrhages and in helmenthiasis.

Animal studies performed in India show ingestion of a defatted alcoholic extract of Boswellia decreased polymorphonuclear leukocyte infiltration and migration, decreased primary antibody synthesis and almost totally inhibited the classical complement pathway.
Boswellia has potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects that can reduce the pain and inflammation of joints.

It can be employed with advantage as a detergent and a wetting out agent in perference to the proprietory auxiliaries ordinarily employed in the textile Industries, particularly in the presence of hard waters at high temperatures and in neutral and alkaline media.
A mixture of soapnut extract and coconut oil soap in equal proportions can be employed as a general textile auxiliary superior to many of the proprietry products already in use.
The arjuna is about 20-25 meters tall; usually has a buttressed trunk, and forms a wide canopy at the crown, from which branches drop downwards. It has oblong, conical leaves which are green on the top and brown below; smooth, grey bark; it has pale yellow flowers which appear between March and June; its glabrous, 2.5 to 5 cm fibrous woody fruit, divided into five wings, appears between September and November.
The arjuna was introduced into Ayurveda as a treatment for heart disease by Vagbhata. It is traditionally prepared as a milk decoction.
