In aquaculture, the amount of oxygen needed by a shrimp, prawn or fish depends on its body surface. Approximately 4 ppm is the minimum required for life processes in aquaculture waters. Hemocyanin, a natural substance found in Black Tiger shrimp's and freshwater prawns blood cells, works as an oxygen carrier. Low dissolved oxygen conditions can produce hemolysis. This will lead to low oxygen availability in the body, resulting in weakness, lowered disease resistance, hypoxia and eventually death due to viral or bacterial infections.Checks pathogenic microbial multiplication and enable to promote friendly microbes to perform bioremediation.
