An intermix glass beads BS-6088A are used as one of the major filler in thermoplastic road marking paint. A rate of 20% minimum intermix by weight is recommended for optimum reflectivity and durability.Drop - on glass beads BS 6088B are dropped on the surface of the paint during its application to obtain reflective. Particle size distribution & its surface treatment determine the level of retro reflective of the paint. Taking into account a refractive index of glass to be 1.5, the beads should be immersed to 50 to 60% in the paint to give a maximum of light when the road marking is illuminated by a vehicle there by providing direction and safety to drivers in night.
