Know About Cassava Flour :

  •   Garri is a grain like food substance that has been dried and processed from starchy plants called cassava.
  •   It is a rich source of carbohydrate which is helpful to hard working people in Africa or west Africa as it is a very cheap and indigenous source of energy.
  •   There are two types; "white" and "yellow" Garri.
  •   They are fortified with vitamin 'A.
  •   The yellow Garri is prepared by frying with the addition of palm oil to give it a yellow color; while white Garri is fried without palm oil.
  •   Garri can be eaten without further cooking by placing in a bowl and adding cold water.
  •   Sugar or honey is then added as well as chunks of coconut, groundnuts, tiger nuts or cashew nuts.
  •   Milk may also be added aswell.
  •   Most garri, however, is cooked by adding to boiling water and stirring to make a stiff paste or porridge, which is known as utara, or eba.
  •   These are normally eaten with soups, of which several different kinds are available.
  •   You can chew the Garri grains straight out of the pack because Garri is roasted processed cassava.
  •   Chew it with groundnuts (peanuts), coconut, cooked beans or palm nuts.
