Acrylic Sheets (PMMA Sheets) Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) is a transparent thermoplastic, often used as a lightweight or shatter-resistant alternative to glass. It is sometimes called Acrylic Glass. Chemically, it is the synthetic polymer of methyl Methacrylate. PMMA is an economical alternative to polycarbonate (PC) when extreme strength is not necessary. It is often preferred because of its moderate properties, easy handling / processing, and low cast. However, it behaves in a brittle manner when loaded, especially under an impact force, and is more prone to scratching compared to conventional inorganic glass.

Features of Acrylic sheets - Impact strength : The impact strength of Acrylic sheets is 17 times that of glass.
- Light weight : The weight of an Acrylic sheet is only about half of glass.
- Transparency : The light transmission of acrylic sheet is 93% (clear).
- Acrylic sheets inherit the UV resistant property.
- Good chemical resistance, superior to most other plastic materials.
