Selenium Dioxide is the chemical compound with the formula SeO2. This colorless solid is one of the most frequently encountered compounds of Selenium Dioxide. Selenium Dioxide is prepared by oxidation of Selenium by burning in air, nitric acid or by reaction with Hydrogen Peroxide, but perhaps the most convenient preparation is by the dehydration of Selenous Acid.
Sodium Metaperiodate known as Sodium salt of Periodic Acid, is available in white crystalline powder form, soluble in water [solubility in water: 14.4% @ 25c]. It has Molecular Formula NaIO4. It is prepared industrially by oxidation of Sod. Iodate with Sodium hypochlorite. It is used as an Oxidizing agent in organic synthesis.
