LUMINOL CAS # 521-31-3 ( 3 aminophthallhydrazide) was synthesized in 1853 and its property was to produce a chemoluminescent reaction in basic solution in the presence of an oxidizing agent on contact with blood. The main components capable of catalyzing this reaction for emitting light are the transition metals haem and peroxidase. This application theory is utilized in forensic research for blood detection.
