More About SPR Gas Sensor : The refractive index of the gas sensitive layer present in contact with metal film changes on exposure to the target gas molecules causing shift in the SPR reflectance curve. For studying the gas sensing response a based sample cell was designed to expose the gas sensitive film with the target gas. SPR reflectance curve was recorded while target gas was of known concentration was inserted inside the gas cell using photo detector and rotation stage in the static mode. In dynamic mode of sensing, the incident angle is kept fixed and change in the minimum reflectance is monitored using CCD camera with time. A CCD camera interfaced with a computer was provided as optional to record the intensity of reflected light at a fixed angle of incident. Response time of gas sensor using SPR setup is relatively fast (in ms).
