Fire Rated Glass in the event of the fire can provide an effective barrier to fire, smoke & hot gasses (integrity). Wired glass is produced by carefully embedding wire mesh or metal wires into glass.
On exposure to fire the glass fractures but is held in one piece by the wire mesh, thus maintaining integrity by preventing collapse, & the passage of smoke & flames. The use of these glasses can also act as a deterrent to would - be intruders.
In case of clear glass, it can result in fracture by minor accidents or malicious damage, thereby not acting as an effective fire barrier Fire rated wired Glass is used in buildings throughout the world when cost effective fire resistant glazing is required in windows, partitions & doors.
The strength of the wire mesh ensures that the glass breaks safely & does not allow the broken pieces to act as a sharp weapon.
