Gann Type Paper Moisture Meter is an electrical resistance type digital moisture meter. It calculates on the basis of mass of water/ mass of solids. Since the electrical conductivity of paper is considerably affected not only by its moisture content, but also by the paper temperature and various substances contained in the paper, it is necessary to take these influences into consideration in the design of the moisture meters to ensure accurate readings.

Effect of moisture on properties :
Higher GSM and lower Bursting Strength due to higher moisture. Tensile Strength decreases with increasing % RH. The strength of bonds between fibers is reduced. Tensile Stretch increases with increasing % RH. Elmendorf Tear Strength increases with increasing % RH. This is because fibers are more likely to pull out of the structure due to reduced bonding strength. More work needs to be done to complete the tear. Tensile Stiffness decreases with increasing % RH.
