Aceclofenac is a phenyl acetic acid derivative categorised under nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS). Aceclofenac is moderately cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) selective congener. However, It shares structural similarities with another(NSAID), diclofenac. This congener was metabolized into diclofenac and 4 hydroxy diclofenac via other human cell monocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes. This may leads to inbition of prostaglandin E2 specifically by blocking cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, andantipyreticproperties . Hence, Aceclofenac is widely used inflammatory and painful diseases of rheumatic and non-rheumatic origin.
