Flame proof weather proof (FLP / WP) enclosures are constructed in accordance with provisions as specified in IS / IEC : 60079-1 : 2007 ; suitable for II B and Zone I & II atmosphere. Failsafe AC or DC disc brakes are fitted inside these enclosures. Very compact and modern in design. The mounting flange of the enclosure is mounted on the non driving end of the motor. There are 3 types of enclosures : Small, Medium and Big depending upon the size and torque capacity of the brake. Detailed drawings of all 3 types are provided for your reference. Torque up to a particular level can be transmitted, after which, in the case of an overload in transmission, the clutch / torque limitor will slip, thereby protecting the system from damage. The overload clutch is a multidisc mechanical device where as the torque limitor is a spring applied mechanical device where as the torque limiter is a spring applied mechanical device |

These brakes are normally in the applied (Breaking) condition. When electric supply is given, the brake is released and the shaft free to rotate. In case of power failure or cut off, the brake is instantaneously applied thus preventing accidents. |

Shoe Type Brakes are of two types :
A] Solenoid operated A.C. and D.C. Shoe Brakes
B] Hydraulic Thrustor Operated Shoe Brakes
These brakes consist of two brake shoes reverted with brake liners. The Brake is normally ON type. The Brake Drum or Coupling, keyed to the driving shaft is gripped between two shoes by spring pressure. When the solenoid or thrustor is given electric supply , the shoes open against spring pressure and the drum is free to rotate
