POPMYRAB POWDER is vegetable extract powder and is hydrolysable tanning material with high in acidity and less salt. It gives mellowing effect and promotes the fixation of condensed type tannins. If blended with catechol tannins it imparts light colour, fullness plumpness and firmness to leather.

Application

• It is particularly suitable for making sole leather when blended with POP GS MIMOSA.

Properties

• Poptan DCN7 is a spray dried resin syntan based on dicyndiamide, recommended for full, tight and mellow leathers. Due to its stable polymeric size the leathers maintains its mellowness on ageing and does not become firm or brittle.
• Poptan DCN7 has selective filling action mainly in loose structured parts of the leather as balley and flanks, yeilds better cutting value .
• Poptan DCN7 imparts good level deying properties and will not be any drawn grain effect because of its non-astringent nature.
• Poptan DCN7 increases tensile strength of leathers and give plumpiness to the leather. The particulars resinous nature of POPTAN DCN7 gives desirable buffing surface for C.G. leathers.
• After addition of POPTAN DCN7 in subsequent operations its advisable to adjust the pH 3.0-3.5 for tighter leather and 3.5-4.0 for softer leathers.

StoragePresents no problem under normal storage conditions and has an indefinite shelf life. Some caking may occur if the product is stored in warm, damp conditions, but this does not affect the efficiency of the product.

QUEBRACHO POWDER is a powder product obtained by chemicallly treating natural quebracho extract in order to achieve full cold water solubility and containing the largest tannin percentage among vegetable extracts. It is normal spray-dried extract. It is excellent for drum tannage and also for the retannage of chrome leather.

Based On Limed Weight

• 25-30% of Popquebracho ATO Powder for vachetta tannage ( veg. Leather ).
• 40% of Popquebracho ATO Powder for soles tannage.

Based On Shaved Weight3-18% of Popquebracho ATO Powder for chrome leather retannage.

Recommendations

• During the leather production, there may be a risk of iron contamination. In order to prevent this, we suggest to use an iron sequestering agent such as Pop DS Powder ( 0.2% on the reference weight), which may be added together with the first addition of tanning agents on the tanning or retanning processes.
• Powder extract dissolution should be performed by means of mechanical shaking. If done manually, it is advisable to work by dissolving the contents of each bag. The use of water at 35C facilities dissolution and prevents lump formation.
• Using small amounts of sodium metabisulfite and formic acid in tanning liquors and processes lightens the colour and improves the appearance of the end-products.

Applications

• Poptan PG 50 possesses a number of important properties as a tanning and retanning material . It gives softer and further leathers. It has a wide range of application in chrome, vegetable or combination tannages .
• Poptan PG 50 improves the uptake of chrome, when used in rechroming system, giving a fuller , softer leather with a fine break. Recommended addition 1%-4% based on shaved weight.
• Poptan PG 50 is highly recommended for the semi-chroming of E.I. & vegetable tanned leathers. By offering a rectangle with Poptan PG 50 before chrome , it is possible to reduce the chrome offered and achieve an increase in the shrinkage temperature of the leather. This increase is considerably greater than the one obtained in a conventional semi-chroming process . The improvement in fullness and softness of the finished leather is an added advantage . Recommended addition 1%-5% based on crust weight .
• Poptan PG 50 is also suitable for the tannage of pickled woolskins in combination with chrome, where it reduces the risk of chrome staining and gives white wool. It is recommended to give an addition of 3 gms 4 gms. Per litre of the float .
• Poptan PG 50 when used as a neutralizing agent for chrome leather , it fixes the chrome and virtually eliminates bleeding of chromium into the solution. Its use for this purpose can make a significant contribution to improving the quality of effluent where chrome is a problem. Recommended addition 1%-4% based on shaved weight .

POPDEGREASOR DGI LIQUID is a solvent-based water miscible Degreasing agnet based on a special combination of solvent and nonionic emulsifiers.
POPDEGREASOR DGI LIQUID is ideally suitable for degreasing all Types of leathers. Skins and hides with excessive fat content can be effectively degreased to produce better quality finished leathers. It redistributes the natural fat to achieve more level dyeing in uppers and Improved nap in suedes .

Application

• When used in the degreasing of bated hides and skins, Popdegreasor DGI Liquid removes excess aftty matter and also improves the dispersion of natural fat present. This prevents chrome soap formations during chrome tannage . 0.25%-1.5% is recommended during this stage depending on the type pf raw material used.
• Popdegreasor DGI Liquid is suitable for the degreasing of E.I. skins for the manufacture of semichrome grain and suede leathers. 2.0%-4.0% can be used alongwith 1% sodium bicarbonate in the stripping bath.
• For the degreasing of chrome split leathers for the manufacture of suede leather, 2.0%-4.0% of Popdegreasor DGI Liquid is recommended on shaved weight. Popdegreasor DGI Liquid can be also used for the degreasing of bated skins for vegetable tannage.
• Popdegreasor DGI Liquid is especially effective if degreasing is carried out under low float conditions . The pelts/leather can be run for about 30 to 40 minutes in low float conditions and the drum can be subsequently flooded with warm water and run for about 20 minutes.

StorageVery good under normal storage conditions . After use, the lid of the container is to be closed air tight.

• Popsynth SL-47 is an ideal fat liquor in the sense , besides giving the uniform lubrication it also paves the way for the uniform distribution and absorption of thesyntans , dyes and the other chemicals which are added subsequently .
• Popsynth SL-47 imparts full and soft feel to the leather without over fatliquoring and gives very warm and pleasant feel to the leather surface . It also imparts good smoothness to the leather surface .

Applications

• Popsynth SL-47 is ideally suited for light weight leathers VIZ . Napps , Gloving and clothing leathers .
• Popsynth SL-47 can be best applied immediately after neutralization at an offer of 1 to 3% for light weight leathers , followed by normal retannage and fatliquoring . It redistributes the natural fat present in the leather .
• Popsynth SL-47 can be recommended for all types of leather , especially for shoe uppers, nubuck leathers , glazed kid goat uppers , garment or bag leathers and all type of seudes .

StoragePopsynth SL-47 can be stored for about one year under normal conditions and temperatures . The product should always be stirred before use as a precautionary measure due to temperature changes.

Cationic fatliquor of high light fastness and stability to electrolytes. POPSOFT GSIN is a weakly cation-active fatliquor which is very versatile in application because of its high electrolyte stability. It may be used in chrome tanning to give rapid, uniform through-tamning, and for its lubricating properties.as the main fatliquor for chrome tanned suede leather. as a top fatliquor for grain leathers. It enhances both softness and fullness and gives the leather, especially when used as a top fatliquor, a smooth, pleasing handle.

• Appearance: white soft paste. Chemical Character: fatty acid condensation product. Ionic nature :cationic
• pH of 10% emulsion:4-5 Light fastness:very good. Storage stability:virtually unlimited. Stability:. Stability to solutions of acids and salts very good but restricted to solutions of alkalis.
• Dilutability and Compatibility: Readily emulsifiable in water at 50° further dilution can be done by cold
• Compatible with nonionic, cationic and anionic substances. Emulsion is stable water also.

Applications

• Because of its high electrolyte stability, Popsoft GSIN can be used without difficulty even in liquors with a high electrolyte content. . In chrome tannages Popsoft GSIN promotes the distribution of the chrome and accelerates thorough tanning thus increasing the softness and fullness of the leather. It also acts as a lubricant and prevents thin leathers from becoming entangled when tanning at short liquor ratios. The product is added at beginning of the tanning process or even in the pickle.
• Amounts : Grain leather 0.2-0.5% Popsoft GSIN Suede leather 0.5-1.5% on the pelt weight.
• In the main or preliminary fatliquoring of suede leather An excellent, uniform, thorough fatliquoring effect is achieved with Popsoft GSIN. It gives the leather a soft, full handle and trouble-free buffing properties. It is advisable to add the product before neutralising or together with a retannage, if given. If a more pronounced surface fatliquoring is required, e.g. to produce a two-way nap effect, Popsoft GSIN can be super- fatted by adding raw oils such as neatsfoot oil, sperm oil, etc. to form an emulsion. This is best carried out before neutralisation or in conjuction with any chrome retannage. Amount : 2-4% Popsoft GSIN on shaved weight + 0.3% neutral oil.
• As a top fatiiquorforgrain leathers Popsoft GSIN is best added as a supplement to anionic fatliquoring baths to give complete bath exhaustion and to reinforce the fixation of the anionic fatliquors. The leathers are given a slightly greasy, pleasant handle, the grain elasticity is increased and the absorbency reduced.
• Amount : 0.3-0.5% Popsoft GSIN on shaved weight.
• Handle modifications for finished grain leather For a silky, slightly greasy handle Popsoft GSIN can be sprayed as a top finish on finished grain leather. Depending on the desired effect, solutions of roughly 10% concentration are used for this purpose. If deeper penetration is required, about 30-100 gms/litre isopropyl alcohol should be added to the solution.
• For upgrading of defective leathers Corrected grain leathers are given a pad coat with a 10% solution of Popsoft GSIN which helps in sealing the defects and thereby improves the film formation of the subsequent pigment coats. Sealing coat is to be adjusted to the desired effect using about 30-100 gms/litre isopropyl alcohol to take care of the adhesion of the subsequent coats.

POPSYNTH SOL9B Sulphated natural oil in solvent. Popsynth SOL9B is a new special type of synthetic fat liquor for suede, nubuck, garment and gloving leather. It increases the brilliance and depth of the dyeing and imparts lustre and sheen to suede leathers.

• Popsynth SOL9B when used in combination with other synthetic and natural fat, a thorough fatliquoring without bony feel and dry noise is achieved.

Properties

• Popoil PVG 9 is a complete anionic fatliquor with wide range of application to almost all type of leathers, imparting some specific properties. Emulsion can be made with cold or hot water without any major variation in the particle size of the emulsion.
• Popoil PVG 9 produces leathers with pleasant touch and mellow handle.

ApplicationsPopoil PVG 9 can be used for a variety of leathers, particularly medium light leathers like upper, garment, lining, etc. While blending with other fatliquors, better results may be achieved if Popoil PVG 9 and all other fatliquors in required proportions are first mixed together and then gradually diluted with water to form a fine emulaion.

OPTAN LR Levelling Agent with slight tanning properties; dispersing agent for vegetable tannins. Poptan LR is versatile in application. · In dyeing as levelling and lightening agent for anionic dyes, especially suitable for medium to pastel shades. For the fixation of cationic dyes and fatliquors. As dispersing agent for vegetable tannins and in retannages with anionic and nonionic resin tannins. Promotes the penetration and distribution of the tannin while simultaneously improving the dyeability and penetration.

Properties

• Appearance : Very light, yellowish-brown powder, readily soluble in water.
• Chemical Character : Sodium Salt of an aromatic sulphonic acid, anionic.
• Active Ingredients : 96% pH of 10% solution : 7-8

Application

• Dyeing pale and pastel shades with anionic dyes : POPTAN LR is used here as a levelling and brightening agent. It is added at the beginning of the dyeing about 10 minutes before the dye is added, either dissolved in a 1:5 ratio or in powder form. It can also be added directly together with the dye, in which case the dyeing is lightened somewhat less.

• Medium to pale shades : 0.2-1% Pastel shades : 1-3%

On the shaved weight

• Fixation of cationic dyes and fat liquors : Additional fixation of dyeings or toppings with cationic dyes and cationic fatliquors can be obtained by an aftertreatment with POPTAN LR. It is added to the exhausted dyeing or fatliquoring bath.
• Amounts : 0. 5-1 % POPTAN LR on shaved weight.

Vegetable Tanning

• POPTAN LR disperses the vegetable tannin, largely prevents the formation of undesired sludge and speeds up the through tanning process.
• Amounts in drum tanning : 2-10% POPTAN LR based on the amount of Vegetable tannin.

In Retannages

• POPTAN LR is added as a dispersing and levelling agent to retannages with vegetable tannins as well as anionic and nonionic resin tannins; the penetration of the retanning agents thereby becomes more uniform and the grain remains more elastic.
• Amounts : 5-30% POPTAN LR based on the retanning agent.

Storage StabilityVirtually unlimited, if frozen. Ensure it is stored dry and opened containers are tightly closed.

Handling PrecautionsThe eyes and respiratory tracts should be protected against contact with the product as it has a strong irritating effect on the mucous membranes.

POPBATE-ALK is an enzymatic bating agent which works in alkaline range. POPBATE-ALK is a versatile bating agent based on proteolytic enzymes for all types of leather. This is an optimal blend of proteolytic enzymes from animal and microbial sources. The tailor-made formulation has also lipolytic side activities which help in removing the fatty tissues adhering to the skin and thus facilitating an optimum bating action.

Advantages

• POPBATE-ALK ensures efficient loosening of scud consisting of short hairs, grease, lime soaps, dark coloured pigments and traces of epidermis, resulting in a fine and silky grained leather.
• POPBATE-ALK has proteolytic enzymes which ensure optimal removal of non-leather forming proteinaceous material like albumin, globulins and mucoids from the hides and skins.
• POPBATE-ALK gives a more elastic grain without increasing the "loose grain" tendency.
• POPBATE ALK slackens the hide structure gently without causing excessive decomposition of the flanks.
• POPBATE-ALK Good scud loosening, smooth grains, even in strongly "fallen" pelts. For improved scud loosening special auxiliary agents may be additionally used.

ApplicationIt is to be dosed at 0.4-0.8% based on the pelt weight. It is better to dissolve the formulations made with POPBATE-ALK separately in little quantity of water before adding to the bating bath.

Properties

• Poptan RsI is a spray dried complex aminoplast resin of medium polymeric size recommended for tight and mellow leather. Due to its stable polymeric size, the leathers maintain its mellowness on aging and will not become firm or brittle. The resin is able to penetrate deeper, tans in depth, resulting in a richer and fuller leather.
• Poptan RSI has a selective filling action, mainly depositing in the loose structured parts of the leather. Due to its non-astringent nature, there will not be any drawn grain effects.
• Poptan RSI imparts good level dyeing properties, increases tensile strength of leather and gives plumpiness to the leather. The particular resinous nature of Poptan RSI gives a desirable buffing surface.
• After addition of Poptan RSI in subsequent operations, its advisable to adjust the pH to 3.0-3.5 for tighter leather and 3.5-4.0 for softer leathers, to avail the optimum efficiency of the product.

Properties

• Popsynthoil LF-10 is an all purpose anionic fat liquor for high degree of softness suitable for chrome and Semi Chrome as well as for vegetable tanned leathers. It is easily emulsifiable in water at normal temperature.

• Popsynthoil LF-10 can also be used in rechroming prior to the addition of chrome powder to get extra softness and better chrome exhaustion. It has inherent properties, to open leather fibres and to. produce a fluffy, soft and round leather.
• Popsynthoil LF-10 has no effect on aniline dyes. It is satisfactorily fast to light and does not impart any yellowing to leather under normal conditions.
