Introduction:
The personal air sampler model pas25 consists of a mini pump driven by a d.c. motor working on a 6 volt dc rechargeable battery.this work continuously for up to 10 hours between charging. if required, the air sampler can be used, while charging by 220 v ac mains supply.the screw arrangement allows variation of flow rates between 0.5 and 3.0 liters/minute. a flow meter is mounted on the face of the box.pulsation dampers are internally fitted on the inlet and outlet gas circuit to smoothen the air flow. the pump unit is fitted into a m.s. case of compact size.the sampler unit can be kept on a flat surface for stability at the breathing zone level of the worker to take stel (15 mins.)/twa - tl v (8 hour) measurements. the air sampler is supplied with a battery charger in a carrying case.
Applications :
these instrument is applicable for three things, 1) twa-tlv/stel, 2) dusts, fumes, mists and 3) gases, vapours and solvents within factories, plants, government organization, research institutions etc.
1) twa-tlv/stel limits values are statutory requirements. by sampling the breathing air, the short term exposure limit can be determined. otherwise using the sampler for an 8 hour shift the twa - tlv value can be ascertained for the contaminant.
2) dusts, fumes, mists for collection of toxic dusts e.g. arsenic, cadmium, beryllium, carbon black, cobalt, copper, lead, manganese, nickel rhodium, silver or tin, the use of a filter is the simplest. many oxides or metal fumes, produced by casting, welding or burning, may be collected on a filter for analysis.
3) gases, vapours and solvents using the sampler, a convenient collecting method is by adsorption tubes or detector tubes suitable to the gases & vapors to be analyzed or de-adsorbtion for chromatograph analysis of the adsorbent. also, for adsorption into a liquid contained in a bubbler for chemical analysis

The PRIMA Head Space Oxygen Meter-HSOM has a specially designed sampling configuration with an inbuilt pump and timer switch and an ultrasensitive oxygen sensor that makes it feasible to accurately measure oxygen contamination in the headspace flexible food packs or tin cans. The Model incorporates an adapted hypodermic needle to pierce the loose food packs and draw the gas using the inbuilt pump. In the case of headspace analysis of tin cans, Model HSOM when used with the tin can piercer device provides the headspace analysis of % oxygen in the tin can of heights up to 380 mm. The high vacuum pump is designed to educts the headspace atmosphere of low internal pressure. Models can work on 220 VAC mains supply or on Rechargeable Battery. This portable instrument is available with a digital readout 0-25% 02 range and 0.1 % oxygen in steps with front adjustments for zero, calibration & sampling of the headspace gas.

Principle on which the Sensor works
Used air monitoring technique employing the absorption of beta radiation by solid particles extracted from air flow. So, the air is drawn from outside of the detector through an infinite (cycling) ribbon made from some filtering material so that the particles are collected on it. There are two sources of beta radiation placed one before and one after the region where air flow passes through the ribbon leaving particles on it; and there are also two detectors on the opposite side of the ribbon, facing the detectors. The sources intensity and detectors sensitivity being the same, the intensity of beta rays detected by one of detectors is compared to that of the other. Thus, one can deduce how much mass has the ribbon acquired upon being exposed to air flow; knowing the drain velocity, actual particle mass concentration in air could be assessed. The radiation source be a gas chamber, filled with a pieces of 14C-rich polymer plastic, such as PMMA. Detector is simply a GeigerMueller counter. The particulate matter content measured is affected by the moisture content in the air, unfortunately, hence adopted with appropriate sampling head.
