Offset four-color printing, also known as CMYK printing, is a common technique in the printing industry. It uses four inks—cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and black (K)—to produce a wide range of colors by layering these inks in various combinations and densities.
Here's how it works:
1. **Separation**: The image or design is separated into four color channels (C, M, Y, K).
2. **Plates**: Separate plates are created for each color. Each plate will apply one of the four colors to the paper.
3. **Printing**: The press transfers the ink from the plates to the paper. Each color is applied in a different pass, overlapping to create the full spectrum of colors.
This method allows for high-quality, full-color prints and is commonly used for magazines, brochures, and other marketing materials.
