Adistribution board(also known aspanelboard, breaker panel, orelectric panel) is a component of anelectricity supply systemthat divides an electrical power feed into subsidiarycircuits, while providing a protectivefuseorcircuit breakerfor each circuit in a commonenclosure. Normally, a mainswitch, and in recent boards, one or moreresidual-current devices(RCD) orresidual current breakers with overcurrent protection(RCBO), are also incorporated. In the United Kingdom, a distribution board designed for domestic installations is known as a consumer unit.
