Switchgears are used to both disconnect power supply from the system and clear faults in the downstream. They are majorly divided into MCB, Isolator, RCCB & DB based on their specific applications.
A Switch disconnector is the combination of a regular disconnectorand a load switch which enables us to provide safety isolation while being able to make and break nominal connections.
It is a metallic device mounted at the highest point of the building to capture lightning strikes and direct it to the earth via a safe path thereby preventing it from flowing through the building's electrcial circuit. In the absence of the lightning arrester a lightning strike could destroy electrical equipment and cause harm to human life through electrocutions.
