Medieval Daggers

Historical Daggers from the early Roman times to the Renaissance and Medieval times. Medieval dagger (from Vulgar Latin: 'daca' - a Dacian knife) is a blade weapon (essentially a double-edged knife) used for stabbing, thrusting or as a secondary defense weapon in close combat.Much like battle axes, daggers evolved out of prehistoric tools. They were initially made of flint, ivory or even bone and were used as a weapon since the earliest periods of human civilization.
The medieval daggers stand testimony to the Middle Ages when encounters with any stranger often led to bloodshed. The robust medieval daggers often have a wide blade to take a proper edge for general cutting as well as retaining the true dagger form. The clean and simple lines of the ornate daggers emphasize its strength and efficiency.
The crafted designs of the dagger speak of the elegant styles involved to create classic lines in the blade forged to a sword point. The blade can be single or double edged with striking imprinted artwork. Providing sure fighting grip, the daggers may have various finishes of antique brass, stainless steel, pewter or nickel to offer the rustic look. Capturing danger and excitement, the dagger is generally used to fend off blows in close combat situations. The usage can also be for both for self-defense and for utilitarian purposes, both civil and military.

Gauntlet is a glove with a long sleeve system that is often worn with an armor. Gauntlets are gloves designed to wear with suited armour for protecting the hands in combat. The metal plated gloves or gauntlets replaced various other forms of protection for a warrior's vulnerable hand and wrist during battle. They were usually worn over leather gloves and attached by leather straps. The rolled cuffs avoid the possibility of arm abrasions.
Today, the use of gauntlets is confined to home decoration only. They are available with etched designs meant to make the wearer stand out in a flush of pomp and fashion. They come with beautiful engravings and designs and the forearms also feature elaborate decorative metalwork . Some decorative, functional gauntlets even have gold-toned wrist guards emblazoned with animal figures.
