Coleus Forskohlii or the Indian Coleus plant produces Forskolin or Coleonol which is a labdane diterpene. The plant belongs to the mint family Lamiaceae and is an integral part of Ayurvedic medicine. It is a perennial herb which grows in warm subtropical and temperate regions of India, Burma and Thailand. The roots are fleshy, fibrous and the plant grows up to 1 to 2 feet in height. The leaves are shaped like teardrops, are green with bright purple centers and their color may vary depending on the amount of shade received.
